EXCLUSIVE: Dalljiet Kaur recalls being SHOCKED when estranged husband Nikhil Patel called their marriage a cultural event; says, “He conveniently twisted the whole thing”

Dalljiet Kaur is an Indian television actress primarily known for Kulvaddhu, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? and Kaala Teeka. She participated and won Nach Baliye with Shalin Bhanot. In 2019, she participated in the reality show Bigg Boss 13. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Dalljiet Kaur opened up on how she felt her estranged husband Nikhil Patel was cheating in the marriage and called it a cultural event.

Dalljiet Kaur recently spoke on how her estranged husband Nikhil Patel showed signs of cheating post-marriage. She said, “I think there was a time not very far from the cultural event we went through. He says he doesn’t call it a marriage. If I were sitting beside him he would change the direction of his mobile phone, probably that was the first time I ever noticed something, and I would ask why did you do that but he would give me his mobile. And then it would be all clean, everything was good and not questionable.”

Further continuing, “There were certain things I was going through while being with him, it was inhuman, not required and like it did not make any sense. My family and I were in touch at that time, and we tried to make sense of why was he doing this. Why to the kid? It was not at all making sense at any level. And now I get everything, but yeah it didn’t make sense then.”

Dalljiet Kaur on her marriage being called a cultural event

Speaking on how Dalljiet Kaur felt when her estranged husband called their marriage a cultural event. Kaur said, “So when I met him, the first-ever voice note I received from this gentleman was an introduction that mentioned that his wife was not living with him under the same roof. In it, he revealed that she lived in the US, and she was just coming back for a week to pick up the younger daughter. This was because according to the divorce, she was getting the younger kid due to age and the elder one would stay with him – as it was her choice. That’s one part. This is the first part.”

The actress revealed how the divorce papers were the only assurance given. She said, “The second part is when we talked about marriage. And very blatantly, he said that his divorce is something he is going through now. When we got into the relationship, I was very clearly, very strongly told that the divorce was signed and not being contested. According to the paper – and the legal paper is with me and my parents during the wedding – the divorce is signed and not contested. The decree that’s required for registration – like tomorrow we want to buy a house together; it happens within a couple of months but the divorce is signed.”

Dalljiet Kaur on her estranged husband Nikhil Patels’ divorce

The Nach Baliye winner was upset about how her estranged husband’s divorce was just on paper. “My parents said let’s delay it (the wedding) for a little time. They came up with a letter that his lawyer gave me, which he’s using as proof, an assurance that don’t worry, I am divorced. It’s only the decree that is taking some time because of some COVID reasons. (I was told that) the ex-wife has already taken the younger kid and has gone and has started earning the month whatever has been promised according to the court paper. So I’ve been told it’s not being contested.”

Kaur added, “Also, because school is starting in March, let’s not send Jayden to another continent in the middle of so much; it won’t be good. And anyway, the paper will come, and we’ll sign it. We bought the bullsh*t because everything was seen, said, done, written… But now the assurance which was given to me and my father before the wedding that don’t worry – it also states that we will get the adoption done, he has twisted that.”

Dalljiet Kaur is still shocked at how her estranged husband Nikhil Patel twisted the whole marriage conveniently. The Bigg Boss 13 participant said, “He said, ‘I had told her about it, that the decree is not there.’ I was like, ‘Okay, we will get back to that. My lawyers are also hired well.’ It was just so shocking how the same word was twisted in such a convenient way. Whether God does justice, whether the legal system does justice or whoever comes first, I know justice always prevails. I like to believe that we are in kalyug but it’s balanced because of the good people also.”
